Julia Krone Oliver grew up and was educated in Cape Town, South Africa. After finishing her schooling at Westerford High School, she attended a language school in France and spent some time in England. She attended the University in Cape Town (UCT), where she gained a Social Science Honours degree, majoring in Community Development Work.

Julia is an experienced and pioneering event manager and jazz singer, however, painting is now her primary focus. Julia lived in Johannesburg for nearly 5 years before moving to Malta and then to Edinburgh in 2007. She studied at Edinburgh College of Art over a period of four years. She currently lives between Edinburgh and the coastal town of Stonehaven in Aberdeenshire, where she has a studio. Her work may be found in private collections in South Africa, France, USA and in Scotland.
