Julia Krone Oliver grew up and was educated in Cape Town, South Africa. She attended the University in Cape Town (UCT), where she gained an Honours degree in Social Science, majoring in Community Development Work.

She quickly transitioned into the more glamorous world of show business and event management. Julia had a successful a career as a jazz singer in Cape Town having directed and produced her own cabaret show. She helped to pioneer event management in Cape Town and for 15 years had her own company specialising in corporate and community events, live entertainment and music promotion.

Moving to Edinburgh in 2007, she had a fantastic opportunity to study at Edinburgh College of Art and this helped launch her career as a painter.

Painting, print-making and more recently, textile design have been her focus. She published a range of greeting cards, featuring her work and continues to explore different mediums.

Julia organises pop up art events and often takes part in local Open Studio events. She regularly curates art shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where she has her own venue.

Julia is about to move back to Edinburgh after 6 years in Aberdeenshire.

Her work may be found in private collections in South Africa, France, the USA, Malaysia and Scotland.
