Julia Krone Oliver grew up and was educated in Cape Town, South Africa. After finishing her schooling at Westerford High School, she spent a year at school in France and England. Then she attended the University of Cape Town (UCT), where she gained an Honours degree in Social Sciences, majoring in Community Development Work. She is a jazz singer with classical training, having directed and produced her own cabaret show. For the past 10 years, painting and more recently, printmaking, have been her primary focus as well as organising special art events. Julia lived in Johannesburg for nearly 5 years before moving to Malta and then to Edinburgh in 2007. For four years she studied at Edinburgh College of Art. She lives in Edinburgh and Stonehaven where she has a studio and gallery space. Her work may be found in private collections in South Africa, France, USA and in Scotland.
