She quickly transitioned into the more glamorous world of show business and event management. Julia had a successful a career as a jazz singer in Cape Town having directed and produced her own cabaret show. She helped pioneer event management in Cape Town and for 15 years had her own company specialising in corporate and community events, live entertainment and music promotion.

Moving to Edinburgh in 2007, she had the very fortunate opportunity to study at Edinburgh College of Art and this helped launch her career as a painter.

Painting, printmaking, textile design and more recently, collage work, have been her focus. She published a range of greeting cards, featuring her work and has a range of fabric designs, using her paintings as a starting point.

She continues to explore different mediums.

Whilst living in Aberdeenshire, Julia would annually host an open studio event, as part of the North East Open Studios festival (NEOS).

Back in Edinburgh she regularly shows her work as part of the Edinburgh Fringe and she has a studio gallery which is open by appointment all year round. She is represented by the BGallery in Paris and Brussels.

Julia’s paintings have been selected for various RSA Open Exhibitions and her work has been featured twice in Homes & Interiors Scotland.

Her work may be found in private collections in South Africa, Australia, France, Spain, USA, UAE, Peru, Cayman Islands, England, Scotland and Wales.
